Throughout 2022, the Forest in Our Hearts Foundation organized a training event to educate and promote about Biosphere Reserve for more than 1,300 secondary school students in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province between August and December 2022, namely;
“Chaofa Ubonrat School” in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province on 25-26 July, 2022, organizing activities for 200 high school students in grades 1- 3.
“Chiang Dao Wittayakhom School” in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province on 1-5 August 2022, organized activities for 500 high school students in grades 3-5, and on 28-29 November 2022, organized activities for high school students in grades 5-6 for a total of 200 students.
“Suksa Songkhro Chiang Dao School” in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province on 23 November, 2022, organized activities for 100 high school students in grades 4-6.
“Silarawee School” in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province on 24-25 November, 2022, organized activities for 200 high school students in grades 1-3.
The main activities include providing knowledge and understanding of biosphere reserves and giving tips on reforestation, selecting endemic plant species, and sparking a desire to conserve and cherish forests in their habitats by the specialist speakers. The “We love Doi Luang Chiang Dao” officers from Doi Luang Chiang Dao Wildlife Research Station came to share experiences to inspire the youths to truly understand the meaning of loving and caring in their hometown.
In addition, the foundation also took all the students to the real forest area to experience ecological field trips and to study natural routes at the Doi Chiang Dao Wildlife Research Station, as well as organizing workshop activities for students to divide into groups to brainstorm ideas and present their work showing the power of conservation, protection, preservation and preservation of Doi Chiang Dao forest through roleplay from the pictures that the student together drew as in a separated group. It came out well and with creativity, showing that Doi Luang Chiang Dao is important to their life and how they want to preserve it as a world heritage site that continues to be fertile.
Student said “I'm very happy to come out and join activities to study nature routes and learn about the Doi Chiang Dao Biosphere Reserve. I will also bring what I have learned in this training to follow my dream to become a volunteer guide for Doi Luang Chiang Dao tours as well.”
